Dear Writers,

Thank you for creating memories with your precious kids after a long day. The motto of Family of Writers is "Arrive tired. Leave inspired!"

  • The format for every class is similar. First, I teach several big writing concepts. Then, I share a mentor text that illustrates one or more of the evening's big ideas. Next, I lead everyone in a writing invitation. We end with the best part of the class which is volunteers sharing their pieces.

  • I know that some of you love writing while others hate it. All are welcome in this class. I am gentle with everyone and only give positive response. Almost all of our writing pieces are based on memories and stories from your life. No previous writing experience is needed and I'll prompt you in a way that gives you plenty of ideas for writing.

  • The essential part of this course is that you take a risk and try to get some words on the page. Parents, writing alongside your kids is THE most powerful thing you can do to help your beloveds fall in love with writing. I will be beside you the whole way.

  • Class Starts at 6 PM and ends at 7:30 PM.

  • There is an early bird drawing for families who are seated and ready to write at 6 PM.

  • Download the course workbook before the first class begins. Please bring it to every class. You only need one workbook per family. If you have more than one child attending the class, they might like their own workbooks. It’s up to you (and your printer).

  • I send a reminder email the Monday before every class with any important details for the week’s upcoming class.

  • If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you so much for attending Family of Writers. I appreciate the time and energy it takes to get back to school during the week. I know many of us will arrive tired. It’s my mission to help you leave inspired.
