How do I sign up for the PPWriC?
Subscribe to my Substack called Power LInes.
You’ll receive three Friday emails starting on April 4th with all the directions and resources you need. There is NO official signup required other than subscribing to my Substack. You can unsubscribe whenever you like.
What’s in the daily emails?
The emails arrive at 5 AM on Friday, April 4, 11, and 18. They include the following:
Tiny tips for writing haiku
Optional haiku writing prompts
Links for ALL the haiku resources you need.
Direct link to my Substack CHAT for sharing your haiku with our community.
Does PPWriC cost anything?
Nope.
What if I don’t write a haiku for every day of the challenge?
No worries. The goal is to write and share nine haiku (if you want to get prizes via snail mail), but do what works for you. One haiku is better than none.
Can my kids and friends do the challenge, too?
Yes. Please encourage anyone to join us. Everyone in your family can write their own, or you could write one together each day.
What is the connection between haiku and pie? I’m confused!
I’m just having fun and finding an excuse to eat pie and write haiku, but here’s an image that shows why poetry and pie go hand in hand.
I’m still not sure how to write haiku. Can you help me understand?
To receive haiku directions, tips, and tricks, Subscribe to my Substack. You’ll get everything you need to be a haiku pro!
When do I write my daily haiku?
Whenever you like, but try to write one-a-day during the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of April 4, 11, and 18 weekends.
How do I share my haiku?
Share in the chat on my Substack. Scroll to the graphic with the correct date and post your haiku there. You’ll have a direct link in every Friday email. You can also check out this page for more directions.
Do I have to share my haiku?
Nope, but it will be more fun and you’ll get prizes if you share nine by the end of the challenge. Plus, this is a safe space and everyone will LOVE what you share! If you’re not comfortable sharing your haiku in the Substack chat, you can email me (lorrietom@lorriet.com) your list of at least nine haiku to show that you completed the challenge.
Where do I write my haiku?
Check out this page for options and to see what I prefer. (HINT: I used my phone!)
What do I do with my haiku when the challenge is over?
Save them. Your haiku are a great memory-keeping tool for this slice of your life!
I use Canva or MixBook to make darling photo books. It’s easy to download my pictures directly from Instagram or your phone.
Last year I used a tiny Canon IVY printer. It prints tiny stickers right from my phone! I will stick photographs with haiku written on them into a tiny journal.
Is the word HAIKU capitalized?
No.
What’s the plural of HAIKU?
Haiku. Same for singular and plural.
